How to make a caller ID spoofing machine?
By caller ID spoofing i mean hide my caller ID when calling.
I am from the Maldives.
And also some guys had spoofed caller ID previously but i didn’t know how they did it.
They dialed a valid land line number and then type the phone number i want (only types the number when the tone comes) to call and that’s it when we received the call it says blocked number or anonymous etc.

Would I get in trouble for caller ID spoofing, or is it just the company that provides the service?
If I use a caller ID spoofing service, is it me who gets in trouble or is it the company who provides the service that gets in trouble?
I am wondering because I’m pretty sure caller ID spoofing is illegal, even though I found a service that in their FAQs says they are entirely legal….

Spoofing is NOT illegal…
It is however illegal if you use it with the intention to misrepresent yourself for the purpose of committing an act of fraud, or to access a system with out authorization where that system uses CID authentication…

Well if you jailbreak the iphone and download a program called “spoof 2.1… Something” you can spoof caller id’s. He’d be calling from like 666 or from your own number. At first when I didn’t know I was like wtf? Because I’d be getting calls from the same number… And he could change his voice and record the conversation. That’s all I know about spoofing calls that there is a program you can download onto the iphone to do that.

Is it a REAL call from the FBI or caller ID spoofing?
My mom told me that I received a call from the FBI today and it is the FBI number on the caller ID. Is it real or a scam. She said it was a foreign speaking man. I figure it is a scam. I don’t know why they would be contacting me and I figured if they were that they would do it in person not over the telephone. I do know there is a way that a person can do caller ID spoofing and have another number show up on the caller id. Any advice??

It’s difficult to say, may or may not have been an actual FBI call. If they are indeed trying to contact you then they must want something. But you’re right, you’d think they would attempt to contact you physically if it was really the FBI. If it’s important they will try to contact you again I’m sure.

I reported it to my phone company and to the local police department.
Actually I read it is illegal, and I felt threatened.

Spoofing caller ID is NOT illegal.. There are plenty of businesses that offer these services..
HR 1258 or the “truth in caller ID act” only makes knowingly spoofing your caller ID illegal IF you “knowingly transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.”
the penalties are:
“The Act authorizes civil penalties of up to $10,000 for each violation, or three times that amount for each day of a continuing violation, up to a total of $1,000,000 for any single act or failure to act. A two-year statute of limitation applies to these civil penalties. In addition, the bill authorizes criminal fines of up to $10,000 for each violation, or three times that amount for each day of continuing violation, in lieu of civil penalties. The FCC and state attorneys general have the right to enforce these provisions. There is no private cause of action for violations of the Truth in Caller ID Act.”

Is there anyway to find out who actually called you using a caller ID spoofing application?

You could try Trapcall, this is what I use and recommend. You could get a 1 800 phone number or if you know someone with a 800 number then forward your phone to that number whoever manages that 800 number will see who called. This is your homework for tonight.

I am getting spoofing calls from someone I think I know obviously using a spoof app, card or computer. Can Trap call unmask that?
Hi Margaret, yes Trapcall will be able to unmask those calls for you I’m sure. It really is annoying isn’t it, getting spoof calls and not knowing who is doing that to you. Uncover who they are and expose them for harrassing you. Good luck.
