The first option that pretty much satisfies your immediate needs would be to take up a subscription to Trapcall. This service will alleviate any of those sort of problems, with the ability to unblock phone calls and reveal the caller’s number, prevent those calls from reaching you. There are a few options with various levels to choose from, even the ability to record those nasty phone calls.

Another option, which I’m not sure is available to you would be trying *67 blocks your phone number and *82 unblocks your phone number… If you want to block her from calling you call the phone company and put a block on incoming calls that do not show their number.

TrapcallReviewer answers:

Hello Chris, To prevent some one from calling and hanging up on you dial *77 which is anonymous call rejection. When people with private numbers trying to get you they must unblock their number to get through.

How Anonymous Call Rejection works: The following is some basic information about how Anonymous Call Rejection works, how it may impact upon your privacy rights, and what options you have if you wish to continue to protect them.

If you’re calling someone who has Anonymous Call Rejection service, and you block your number from being shown, your call will be diverted to a recorded message telling you that the called party does not accept blocked calls and to unblock before calling, or the call won’t go through. People who use ACR usually want to see who is calling them, and don’t want to take anonymous calls. However, ACR subscribers can de-activate the ACR feature by dialing *87 and re-activate it by dialing *77

Hi David, If it is asking for the PUK then you must call your service provider to get that code (some carriers have that capability on their website). If it was asking for the PUK earlier and now it is not, then it is too late and you will have to go to one of their retail stores and buy a new SIM for $25-$30.

I’m not entirely sure, perhaps not in the US legal system. But If I were you I’d collect as much evidence as you can of the current harrassment calls etc. Being able to unmask calls with Trapcall will definitely assist you in gathering evidence like phone numbers and here’s a tip, trapcall even has the ability to record those blocked calls for you, this feature comes with the Bear trap option, might prove very useful in your case. I wish you all the best Charlie.

Caller ID faker sometimes may cost money, but because you used it only for the trial period, it should not charge you. Caller ID faking is a service provided by a 3rd-party, e.g. Spoofpin. So you basically dial SpoofPIN and they will change your caller ID. There is no reason your cell company should charge you any other than your local minutes for such a call. I am hoping that the number you dialed was a local number. If it was a local number, you can check the bill that your cell phone company must have sent you to see why you were charged the high amount.

Report/Block Someone Using Caller ID Faker?

She can’t ban him entirely because he’s the father of her child and he has visitation rights.

Recently, my friend believes that this guy is now using Caller ID Faker and is stealing his phone number and calling my friend’s girlfriend. He also thinks that the guy is stealing his girlfriend’s number and calling him. The Caller ID Faker website claims that not even the phone bill will show that he uses Caller ID Faker. The site claims that it cannot be traced or tracked down and that the product is legal in the U.S. So, how does my friend and his girlfriend stop this harassment? Can they block it? Is there a way for the police to demand Caller ID Faker release their information on the guy who may be using their product for malicious purposes?

TrapcallReviewer answers:

Spoofing caller ID is NOT illegal.. There are plenty of businesses that offer these services..

HR 1258 or the “truth in caller ID act” only makes knowingly spoofing your caller ID illegal IF you “knowingly transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.”

the penalties are:
“The Act authorizes civil penalties of up to $10,000 for each violation, or three times that amount for each day of a continuing violation, up to a total of $1,000,000 for any single act or failure to act. A two-year statute of limitation applies to these civil penalties. In addition, the bill authorizes criminal fines of up to $10,000 for each violation, or three times that amount for each day of continuing violation, in lieu of civil penalties. The FCC and state attorneys general have the right to enforce these provisions. There is no private cause of action for violations of the Truth in Caller ID Act.”

I dont know what your phone policy is but most companies will help you. If not you can call your local police department. Just one phone call can be considered harrassment and what the cops or the company will do is set a Trap for the caller so when they call they can trace it and they can get in a lot of trouble for it. You can see if *57 works for your phone. Directly after they call dial that and it should take you to Call Trace and they can help you get the number. Otherwise you might just have to invest in a small Trapcall plan.

There is only way you can do a free reverse lookup for both the above cases. That is using the Internet search engines – google, msn, yahoo. Just type the phone number in the search book and hit the search button.

You may not succeed on the first try. Try out different combinations like putting the number with in quotes, using the area code, and any other details you might in combinations. You might just be lucky and get the information you are looking for.

If nothing works try http://www.trace-a-phone-number.com service which is reverse lookup service that offers excellent value for money. If you are not satisfied with the results then ask for a refund!

TrapcallReviewer answers:

Did you receive this call on your land line telephone or your cell phone? When it comes to home telephones or land line phones, your name information sits in a database which is called by the Caller ID service.

Cell Phone companies like Verizon and many others don’t want your name information getting into the wrong hands anymore than it is already so they’ll fight to keep name information private, thus only displaying a number.

Telemarketers are the perfect example of the privacy levels of your cell phone information versus your home telephone number name association.

If you aren’t aware already, there is a way to fake your caller ID number allowing you to turn your caller ID number into whatever number you want. It’s very possible that a business or person might have been using some sort of call spoofing technique. If I can change my caller ID information, so can anybody else.

Just because a number is displayed on your caller ID doesn’t mean that’s actually who’s calling. It might have been an attempt to get you to answer the call.

Locating calls coming with fake or Spoof caller ID #?

I have been getting these phone calls numerous times for about a year now. I have been answering all of these annoying calls with wired numbers for some time now. When I say weird, I am talking about numbers shown up on your caller ID with only 5 digit numbers like “98622”. Come to find out, these people are trying to sell me some products. I keep telling them i’m not interested and asking them to remove me from whatever list they have me on. But these calls keep coming till this day….and every-time with a different person. I have asked to speak to their manager many times. Its either manger is not available or all of the sudden these retards do not understand English. They may be speaking with strong Indian accent, but I know for fact they understand what I was saying. I threatened them with pressing charges against the company. But that does not help the situation at all.

So I stopped answering my cell when I see those 5 digit caller IDs on the display. Recently, they are came with a clever idea of using spoof called ID and imitate local numbers to trick me into picking up my phone. I tried calling back those local numbers, but I keep getting a message saying number is disconnected.

In reality, I would press charge but I have no info on this company, or can’t even get those idiots to reveal their true identity or company info. All I know is, when doing a reveres lookup on the number they used it comes back with a telecom company called MCI WORLDCOM COMMUNICATIONS, INC. Is there any way to find out who is behind those calls? This is really getting out hand. I really want to put a complaint or even get a court order, but I need concrete info on this company to do that. I don’t know what else I can do here…. I need help guys!

We’re sorry to see you have this problem. Trapcall sent multiple emails, followed up by a text message, to ensure that all Try Trap users on their original free plan would know that they should un-program their phone to avoid any issues with their voicemail and to avoid these unwanted ads.

To un-program your phone all you need to do is dial ##004# like you would any regular telephone number. This clears your conditional call forwarding settings and your calls can then be sent to your carrier’s voicemail.

If you have any further issues please don’t hesitate to contact TrapCall’s customer support directly. You will probably get a better response time

Ok , so i like to keep this a secret because I’m a prank caller myself (haha just kidding). And if many people get what i am about to tell you they will tell their parents and you can get in trouble for pranking.

Click one of the buttons that says try trap call, either bug trap, mouse trap or a bear trap and you should be able to sign up for it, no downloading, installing or anything, its really cool. The pranksters call in private you dont answer it, let it go to missed call and it keeps ringing on the pranksters line, then it comes through as unmasked. You can search also and it will show you, hope this helped. This works great on a cell phone too.

The original free service from Trapcall is no longer available, but their plans are very reasonably priced for a really good service, so I would suggest you take up a ‘bug trap’ or ‘mouse trap’ plan to continue to be able to unblock private numbers to your phone.

Thank you all for your questions, I hope my answers have helped. Be sure to keep asking if you need to. Bye.

How do i set up a 1800 number to unmask unknown and blocked calls?

I’m getting a 1-800 number to unmask unknown and blocked calls but I wanted to know how to set it up. I know I would have to set up call forwarding on my phone, which isn’t a problem, but the services I was looking at all said they charge by the minute. So does that mean every call that gets forwarded to the 1-800 number will be charged those minutes (Blocked or not)? Or would I be able to choose which calls to forward from my phone (I have a new tmobile g2)?
An 800 number can be obtained by anyone, business or not.

You cannot call an 800 number blocked because they have a right to know who’s calling.

Caller ID doesnt not show blocked numbers, therefore you don’t know who’s calling.

An 800 number forwards people that call it to your phone, cell or home.

By getting an 800 number, you can forward anyone that calls your normal regular house or cell number to the 800 number, then the 800 number automatically forwards the call back to your house/cell line unmasked. Therefore you know who’s calling, when they don’t want you to know.
